Privacy Policy
Mechanix Onsite ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates a technology dispatch platform that connects drivers with independent mobile mechanics. Mechanix Onsite is not a repair provider, towing service, emergency service, or employer of mechanics. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Service, and information from third parties.
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and (for mechanics) your business name, service types, and any documents you upload to verify your qualifications.
1.2 Service Request Information (Drivers)
When you post a roadside request, we collect your real-time GPS location, vehicle type, a description of the issue, and any photos you attach to the request.
1.3 Mechanic Profile Information
Mechanics provide their service area, service categories (e.g., diesel, tires, electrical), availability status, and may optionally upload profile photos. We may also collect professional license or certification information where applicable.
1.4 Transaction & Payment Information
If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing information through our third-party payment processor. We do not store full credit card numbers. For payment between drivers and mechanics (which occurs directly between parties), we do not process or record those transactions.
1.5 Communications
We may store records of in-app communications and support interactions to resolve disputes and improve the Service.
1.6 Device & Usage Data
We automatically collect device identifiers, operating system version, app version, IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and feature interactions. This helps us improve performance and diagnose issues.
1.7 Ratings & Reviews
After a completed service, users may have the option to leave a rating or review. These may be displayed publicly on mechanic profiles within the platform.
2. Location Data
Location data is core to how Mechanix Onsite works. Please read this section carefully.
2.1 Why We Need Your Location
The Service cannot function without access to location data. Drivers must share their GPS location so mechanics can find them. Mechanics must share their approximate location so the platform can alert nearby mechanics about open requests.
2.2 What We Collect
We collect precise GPS coordinates when you are actively using the Service — specifically when a driver has an active request posted, or when a mechanic is in "online" mode. We do not continuously track your location in the background when the app is closed.
2.3 Who Sees Your Location
- Driver location is shared with mechanics who are online in the area so they can evaluate whether to accept a job. Once a mechanic accepts a request, only that mechanic can see the driver's precise location. Other mechanics see only that the request is no longer available.
- Mechanic location (approximate) is used internally to match nearby mechanics with requests. The driver who posted the request can see the accepting mechanic's general location once their job is accepted and the mechanic is en route.
2.4 Location History
We retain location data associated with completed service requests for up to 12 months for safety, dispute resolution, and service quality purposes. You may request deletion of this data as described in Section 8.
2.5 You Can Opt Out
You may revoke location permissions through your device settings at any time. However, doing so will make it impossible to use core features of the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the dispatch platform and connect drivers with mechanics
- Send notifications about requests, acceptances, and status updates
- Verify mechanic identities and service qualifications
- Process subscription payments (when applicable)
- Resolve disputes between drivers and mechanics
- Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud or abuse
- Improve, personalize, and expand the Service
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support
- Comply with legal obligations
- Display ratings and reviews to other users
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Independent Contractor Mechanics
Mechanics who use Mechanix Onsite are independent contractors, not employees of Mechanix Onsite. When you interact with a mechanic through the platform:
- The mechanic may retain records of the service independently of our platform.
- Mechanics are responsible for their own compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws in connection with information they independently collect from drivers.
- We are not responsible for a mechanic's independent data practices outside the Mechanix Onsite platform.
6. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, safety, or audit purposes. Location history tied to completed service requests is retained for up to 12 months. Anonymized aggregate data may be retained indefinitely.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at support@mechanixonsite.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your account and associated personal data
- Restrict or object to certain processing activities
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured format
- Opt out of location tracking (note: this disables core functionality)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@mechanixonsite.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the last 12 months.

- Essential cookies — required for the website to function
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site (e.g., page views, traffic sources)
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell cookie data.
11. Children's Privacy
Mechanix Onsite is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@mechanixonsite.com.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
